Being his largest concert theatre in Australia to date, Gurrumul, as he prefers to be called, will be backed by a string quartet featuring Michael Hohnen on double bass, Francis Diatschenko on Spanish guitar and violinist Erkki Velheim.
The remarkable East Timorese activist/singer/songwriter Ego Lemos will perform a solo set as his special guest.

2008 ARIA Awards Nominations; Carriageworks – Sydney
Gurrumul became a multiple ARIA nominee, picking up five nominations, including in the coveted categories of best male artist and album of the year.
A relative unknown this time last year, Gurrumul has experienced a phenomenal rise to fame with his self-titled album. The album is expected to go GOLD before Christmas 08 and interest from overseas will see him play in China, New York and UK within the next 6 months.
And the nominations are:
- Album of the Year
- Best Independent Release
- Best Male Artist
- Best World Music Album
Michael Hohnen, Gurrumul's bass player and collaborator, received a nomination for Producer of the Year.

Gurrumul entered the World Music Charts at number 8 this month (September 08).

2008 NT Indigenous Music Awards
Gurrumul won Act of the Year; Album of the Year; Artwork and Design of the Year and Song of the Year for 'Wiyathul'.
His solo/combined show with Ego Lemos the previous night (29 August) was a sell out and a hit with the locals and tourists alike.
To say that Gurrumul is pleased with how well things are going would be an understatement. He's extremely excited about the reactions he's receiving from all over the country and the world. It would be hard to wipe the grin off his face.
Saltwater Band, who Gurrumul is also apart of, won DVD/Filmclip of the Year.

GURRUMUL FORCED TO CANCEL EUROPEAN TOUR DATES DUE TO ILLNESS

Australian artist Gurrumul has been forced to cancel his upcoming European tour due to illness, it was announced today. The double-platinum selling and award-winning singer/songwriter will remain at home with his family in North East Arnhem Land under medical supervision. Ticket holders for Gurrumul’s headline shows should apply for refund from point of purchase.

Due to illness, Gurrumul's tour of the USA has been postponed. The album
launch went ahead and the support from the US is strong with positive
reviews online.
Gurrumul is currently resting with his family where he will remain until he
