'Gurrumul' goes to # 18 on ARIA Chart
After returning home from stunning sell-out shows at the Sydney Opera House and National Art Gallery (ACT) last week, singing sensation Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu's debut album GURRUMUL has shot to No. 18 on this week's ARIA album chart.
Having debuted at no. 21 some three months ago the album continues to steadily gain traction as it touches the hearts of its growing band of listeners. Embraced by the music community from the onset - this collective acclaim has provided the base for the success of a truly deserved talent.
"We've said it before, but we'd like to say it again... We thank the numerous significant music industry people who have recognised the talents of Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu from the onset, and whose active support has resulted in such a fantastic result. This entry into the Top 20 charts is another positive confirmation that great music cannot be denied", says Michael Hohnen (Gurrumul's collaborator of 10 years, and Director of Skinnyfish Music).
Gurrumul's 'live' performances, are a rare treat and can next be experienced during the Melbourne International Arts Festival. He will perform solo from October 20 – 21, and with The Black Arm Band from October 24 - 25.
'Gurrumul' is available nationally and distributed by MGM.
