U.K. Tour Dates for May
Gurrumul will be performing at the Union Chapel on Wednesday 13th May. He will then be playing at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton from the 14th - 16th. For more information, visit the Tour Dates section on the website.
These will be Gurrumul's first solo gigs in the U.K. since his album release in earlier this year.

Northern Territory Australian of the Year
Gurrumul was named NT Australian of the Year at a ceremony at Parliament House in Darwin last night. His Aunt Dorothy accepted the award on his behalf, with an emotional speech about how proud Gurrumul's family is.
Gurrumul now becomes a national finalist in the same category at the Australian of the Year Awards which will be announced in Canberra on 25 January 2009.
2008 AIR Awards
Gurrumul received 3 AIR (Australian Independent Record) Awards at a ceremony held in Melbourne last night.
He won Best Australian Independent Album, Best New Australian Independent Artist and Best Australian Independent Blues/Roots Album.
Gurrumul also performed 2 songs on the night, "Bapa" and "Djilawurr".
2008 Limelight Awards
Recently Gurrumul was nominated for and won 2 Limelight Awards, Best World Music Achievement and Best Newcomer.

2008 ARIA Awards
Gurrumul won the ARIA for Best Independent Album Sunday night, at the 2008 ARIA Awards. This is his second solo ARIA now, after having won one at the ARIA Fine Arts Awards for Best World Music Album.
Gurrumul also performed, the popular song "Bapa", at the ARIA Awards night.

2008 ARIA Fine Arts Awards
The album, "Gurrumul" won the ARIA for Best World Music Album at last nights ARIA Fine Arts Awards. The awards were held at the City Recital Hall, Angel Place in Sydney. They acknowledge the achievements made within the Australian Music Industry across four genres, Classical, Jazz, World Music and Soundtrack/Cast/Show.
This is Gurrumul's first ARIA Award and he's extremely excited about it. Gurrumul, along with his band (Michael Hohnen, Francis Diatschenko and Erkki Velheim) were in Sydney last night to accept the award, before they fly out on Wednesday to perform at China's National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing as part of their inaugural 2008 World Folk Song Festival.

GURRUMUL FORCED TO CANCEL EUROPEAN TOUR DATES DUE TO ILLNESS

Australian artist Gurrumul has been forced to cancel his upcoming European tour due to illness, it was announced today. The double-platinum selling and award-winning singer/songwriter will remain at home with his family in North East Arnhem Land under medical supervision. Ticket holders for Gurrumul’s headline shows should apply for refund from point of purchase.

Due to illness, Gurrumul's tour of the USA has been postponed. The album
launch went ahead and the support from the US is strong with positive
reviews online.
Gurrumul is currently resting with his family where he will remain until he
